Zuma will begin the day by visiting the Frances Vorwerg School to mark the official closing of schools for the winter holidays. The school caters for learners with cerebral palsy and learning disabilities.
South African schools will this year enjoy an extended holiday break in order to accommodate the FIFA 2010 World Cup event.
Zuma’s visit to the schools will highlight that the World Cup legacy is for the benefit of all children, and to further promote education as a necessary legacy of the World Cup.
Zuma will then visit the South African Broadcasting Corporation 2010 Soccer World Cup operations centre at the Sandton Convention Centre to check the state of readiness. The SABC is the official broadcaster for the Soccer World Cup.
In the evening, Zuma will attend the FIFA Congress opening ceremony and dinner.
