Get Down in the Streets of Sandton to Celebrate 100 days to 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ As football fever intensifies South Africans are preparing to celebrate! Get down into the streets of Sandton on Tuesday 2 March to join in the festivities to mark 100 days to kick-off! The celebration runs from 11h00 to 15h00 in Maude Street, on the Sandton Convention Centre’s doorstep. Music, Diski dancing, games, quizzes and live performances by SA artistes are all part of the programme to create a festive carnival atmosphere. The event is open to the public at no charge and participation is encouraged.
“All the tourism role-players in the city have pulled together in a collaborative effort and pooled their resources for maximum impact,” explains Karin White [GM Sales and Marketing at the Sandton Convention Centre].
SA Tourism will be participating, by ending their Fly the Flag initiative for the day at the Convention Centre, while the City of Johannesburg will be utilizing the opportunity to promote their “You Make Joburg Great Campaign”. “We have had the most wonderful response from all the tourism role-players’ in the greater Johannesburg area - not forgetting a host and variety of generous sponsors – who are getting behind us to make the celebration memorable and to showcase Joburg’s vibrancy and spirit!”
